R package ‚periodR‘

The Saarland Cancer Registry provides a software package for the R language and system for statistical computing for computation of long term survival estimates of cancer patients or patients with other chronical diseases based on the period analysis approach. The period analysis approach provides more up-to-date long term survival estimates of concurrently diagnosed patients and enables early detection of recent changes in long term prognosis. The package also allows the computation of traditional cohort-based survival estimates.
The package requires a version of R >= R 3.1.3. Detailed documentation of all components is integrated in the package. Included examples illustrate the use of the software. The package is provided as a binary package for R on computers with Windows operating systems as well as source package for R on computers with other operating systems (e.g. UNIX/Linux, MacOS).
